About
Tennessee Code Annotated (T.C.A.) §48-1-109, requires broker-dealers, broker-dealer agents, investment advisers, and investment adviser representatives to register prior to conducting business in the state of Tennessee.
Firms engaged in the business of effecting transactions in securities for the account of others are “broker-dealers.” Broker-dealers are required to register in this state prior to conducting any business pursuant to T.C.A. §48-1-109 and in compliance with Tennessee Securities Rules Chapter 0780-04-03-.01.
Applications for firms seeking to register as a broker-dealer in Tennessee are submitted electronically through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA) Central Registration Depository (CRD) and are subsequently reviewed by the Securities Division.
Requirements
1. Submit a broker-dealer form via FINRA’s CRD/IARD.
2. Submit a broker-dealer filing fee via FINRA’s CRD/IARD.
3. Submit other information as the Securities Division may request to determine eligibility for registration.
