About

Manufacturer means any person engaged in the process of making, fabricating, constructing, forming, assembling, or reassembling modular building units or components from raw, unfinished, semi-finished, or finished materials.

“Modular building unit” means a structural unit, or preassembled component unit, including the necessary electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating and other service systems, manufactured off-site and transported to the point of use for installation or erection, with or without other specified components, as a finished building

Requirements

No person shall engage in business as a manufacturer of modular building units for sale or installation in the State of Tennessee without first having obtained a manufacturer’s license from the Department.

Any applicant for a license as a manufacturer of modular building units shall furnish a surety bond executed by the applicant (as principal) and by a surety company qualified to do business in this state (as surety).

The bond for a manufacturer of modular building units shall be one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00).

A separate bond shall be required for each place of business operated by a manufacturer.

The application form, surety bond form, and surety bond must be received and processed before being licensed by The State of Tennessee.
